Lovango Resort + Beach Club, the first new-build resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands in more than 30 years, which we showcased in one of our insider Videos earlier this year, opens on Dec. 20 for the 2022 season with luxury treehouses, glamping tents, villas, an enhanced retail village, dining options and beach experiences. Set on its own private island off the coast of St. John, Lovango is accessible by way of private ferry from St. John and St. Thomas or via private boat.
On arrival guests can explore 45 acres and hiking trails overlooking the Caribbean, coral reef snorkeling, waterfront dining, an ocean-facing infinity pool, and three beach club experiences including the island’s south and north Beach Club and an exclusive resort launch to the nearby National Park Beaches of St. John.
Owners Mark and Gwenn Snider look forward to welcoming guests to an all new U.S.V.I.I experience on Lovango. “We are thrilled to welcome guests back for our second season at Lovango Resort + Beach Club and our first season as an overnight resort destination—with more unique accommodations and experiences that invites our guests to have an even closer connection to nature on the island we love so much,” said the Sniders.
Lovango debuted in December 2020 with a three-bedroom private villa, a public water-front restaurant, and Beach Club, the first of its kind in the U.S. Virgin Islands, inviting yachts and day trippers to come and experience the private island paradise for a day. Beginning Dec. 20, 2021, Lovango will launch as a resort for overnight guests and once again welcome day tripper guests to experience the beauty of the U.S Virgin Islands.
New offerings include: Eleven new suites are designed by Michael Kramer of Michael Thomas & Co., the visionary behind Montauk favorites Gurney’s Inn and Ruschmeyer’s Hotel. All Lovango Tree Tops suites, a unique offering in the Caribbean, are designed for minimal environmental impact. Each suite is located just a short walk to a common Tree Tops Lobby where continental breakfast will be served daily and guests can avail themselves of the Beach Club, two island beaches, restaurants, village retail, and ferry service to St. John and St. Thomas for dinner and sightseeing.
Located in the trees overlooking the Caribbean, five Luxury Treehouses are designed for families and couples looking for a bit of adventure without sacrificing comfort. The 640-square-foot suites include substantial outside decking and are designed for sustainability, with air conditioning to cool sleeping areas while the living spaces (with a day bed alcove and hammock) invite trade winds and sea breezes to flow freely throughout the treehouse. To further connect with nature, the bathrooms boast indoor and outdoor showers with bird’s eye views of the islands and cays. An expansive deck with lounge chairs and wrap around benches completes the indoor/outdoor feel. Treehouses comfortably accommodate two adults and two children with one king and two twin beds.
