It’s time for a cruise ship show and tell. Odyssey of the Seas, which just arrived in Florida, is Royal Caribbean’s latest and most innovative cruise ship, and will set sail from South Florida in July. At 1,138 feet long equivalent to three American football fields—the ship features the signature Royal Caribbean experiences guests know and love, and a few notable additions. Displacing 168,866 gross registered tons, Odyssey can carry 4,198 guests double occupancy or 5,498 guests with all berth occupied. Here are some of the new or updated features:
A Larger SeaPlex: This next-generation SeaPlex is the largest indoor and outdoor activity space at sea. Guests can battle it out at glow-in-the-dark laser tag with Clash for the Crystal City or dash their way across the full-sized Sports Court in the only bumper cars at sea. SeaPlex is not only a competitor’s paradise but also a gamer’s, with everything from classic board games and Skee-Ball to interactive games like Sasu’s Mystical Quest—a one-of-a-kind adventure in an underwater world. Or guests can just watch the action from above at Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade—a new venue for SeaPlex.
More Adventure Aft: Not to be missed is all the adventure in the aft part of the ship. Guests can jump from thrilling activity to the next to get their adrenaline pumping, whether it’s feeling the rush of skydiving with RipCord by iFly, catching waves on the signature FlowRider surf simulator or defying gravity with Sky Pad, a virtual reality bungee trampoline experience.
A Caribbean-Inspired Pool Deck: This pool deck, with equal parts thrill and chill, is a must. Odyssey sports a whole new look up top: Caribbean-inspired vibes, tropical music and vibrant colors complement two resort-style pools, in-pool loungers, shady casitas and hammocks. And just steps away are island cocktails from The Lime & Coconut and on-the-go bites from Mexican eatery El Loco Fresh.
Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar: One of the hottest reservations on board Odyssey awaits at the new Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar. A twist on Royal Caribbean’s signature Italian trattoria features hand-tossed pizzas straight out of the pizza oven, homemade pasta and a complete charcuterie station, all paired with limoncello or one of the many wines on the menu.
New Dedicated Kids Areas: In two entirely separate locations on board, the dedicated kids and teen spaces are the center of all things for younger guests. Children (ages 3-12) are encouraged to choose their own adventure in Adventure Ocean’s open-concept space that promotes exploration, science, storytelling and creativity.
Teens (ages 13-17) can rejoice because at Social180 adults can’t cramp their style. This exclusive hangout is where young adults can kick back with friends over the latest in music, games and movies, and enjoy The Patio, a private outdoor deck with sweeping ocean views, outside games and seating.
