Hilton Plans to Double its Puerto Rico Portfolio with 10 New Hotels

Hilton, the renowned hotel brand, has just announced an ambitious plan to expand its portfolio in Puerto Rico, which already boasts the largest collection of Hilton hotels in the Caribbean, with seven existing properties featuring over 2,350 rooms across four Hilton brands. With Hilton's development pipeline in Puerto Rico currently the largest of its Caribbean growth markets, the brand plans to introduce its hotels in new and exciting destinations across the island.

"Puerto Rico plays a critical role in Hilton's history," remarked Pablo Maturana, Vice President of Development for Hilton in the Caribbean and Latin America, "as it kick-started the company's global growth when it welcomed Hilton's first hotel outside the Continental United States in 1949 with the opening of the iconic Caribe Hilton. Nearly 75 years later, our deep-seated commitment to Puerto Rico is as strong as ever."

Hilton's development pipeline in Puerto Rico features almost ten hotels, five of which are new-to-market brands. These include Curio Collection by Hilton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Tru by Hilton, and Homewood Suites by Hilton. Upon completion, Hilton's portfolio of hotels in Puerto Rico will more than double by the end of 2025, with 16 hotels and resorts encompassing nearly 4,400 rooms across eight brands.

The expansion in Puerto Rico will include various hotels across Hilton's lifestyle category of brands. This includes the debut of Tapestry Collection by Hilton, which will open its first hotel on the island, the 186-room Condado Palm Inn San Juan, later this year. Additionally, Curio Collection by Hilton will welcome its first hotel to the island in 2025, with the 332-room San Juan Condado Plaza, following a full renovation as part of a dual-branded conversion that sees The Condado Plaza Hilton towers renewed as a Curio Collection by Hilton and a Hilton Garden Inn.

Furthermore, Hilton plans to expand its focused-service brands, with the expected debut of the first Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Puerto Rico, the 240-room Hilton Garden Inn San Juan Condado, later this year. A second Hilton Garden Inn property, the 153-room Hilton Garden Inn Dorado, is set to join the portfolio in 2025. The first Tru by Hilton property on the island is also slated to open in 2025, with the 77-room Tru by Hilton San Juan Condado. In addition, two Hampton by Hilton properties are planned for 2025, with the 138-room Hampton by Hilton San Juan City Center and the 120-room Hampton by Hilton Ponce.

Lastly, Hilton's expansion in the all-suites and extended-stay segment is on the horizon with the anticipated 2025 opening of the 118-room Homewood Suites by Hilton San Juan City Center, which will mark the first Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel in Puerto Rico. Hilton's current offerings in Puerto Rico include seven hotels and resorts, namely the Caribe Hilton, Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort, The Condado Plaza Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton San Juan, Embassy Suites by Hilton Dorado del Mar Beach Resort, Embassy Suites by Hilton San Juan Hotel & Casino, and Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton San Juan.

Hilton's presence in the Caribbean is already substantial, with 25 hotels across the region in highly sought-after destinations such as Aruba, Barbados, Curaçao, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and more. With a pipeline of over 25 hotels in various stages of design and construction, Hilton plans to double its Caribbean portfolio in the near future.
