Celebrity Cruises has opened bookings for its 2028 Galápagos expeditions as of March 10, offering more than 50 all-inclusive sailings to a place that feels, even by global standards, delightfully improbable. The Galápagos Islands are, after all, where evolution appears to have taken a few creative liberties, producing creatures that seem both ancient and faintly amused by our presence.

Each sailing promises a succession of memorable encounters: snorkeling alongside sea lions who are clearly having more fun than you, kayaking past sea turtles who couldn’t be less hurried, wandering along cliff-lined coastlines, and meeting giant tortoises whose pace of life suggests they have understood something the rest of us have not. The itineraries are led by expert naturalists from the Galápagos National Park, ensuring that every day is not only scenic but faintly educational in the most agreeable way.
At the center of it all is Celebrity Flora, a 100-guest vessel described as a mega-yacht, though mercifully one that resists any urge toward excess. Designed specifically for the Galápagos, it manages to combine comfort with restraint — no small feat in a place where the scenery does most of the talking. Guests can expect all-inclusive accommodations, notably good food, and experiences such as glamping under the stars, which sounds adventurous while still allowing for a proper bed.
Voyages range from seven to sixteen nights, offering both inner and outer loop itineraries through the archipelago. Those with a taste for extending their journeys can add time on land, exploring Quito or venturing further afield to Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and even Machu Picchu — destinations that make a strong case for taking a few extra days off.
As Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, notes, the Galápagos is one of the most extraordinary places on Earth — a statement that feels refreshingly accurate rather than promotional. The company pairs its expedition experience with a stated commitment to conservation, aiming not only to show guests the islands but to help preserve them.
To that end, Celebrity partners with the Galápagos National Park on its “Rewilding Galápagos” initiative, which invites guests to participate in habitat restoration. This involves visiting reforestation sites and planting seedlings — a small but tangible contribution to ecosystems that have been evolving patiently for millions of years. So far, more than 86 acres have been restored, and by 2028 the program is expected to reach the pleasingly round milestone of 100,000 trees planted.
Supporting this effort is the Hernán Carrión Nursery, funded in part by the Celebrity Cruises Galápagos Fund, where native plants are cultivated for reforestation. Since its establishment in 2005, the fund has contributed to conservation projects and local community initiatives, reflecting the growing realization that even the most remote places benefit from thoughtful stewardship.
In the end, a Galápagos voyage with Celebrity is a curious and rather satisfying blend: extraordinary wildlife, landscapes that feel almost prehistoric, expert guidance that makes it all make sense, and a ship comfortable enough to remind you that exploration no longer requires actual hardship. It is, in short, adventure with just the right amount of civilization — which may be the best kind there is.
